5 Steps to Painted Newsy Nails

I took a few minutes to complete one of the crafts from my Top 5 Fall DIY Projects list: Newsy Nails. I was surprised that it only took 20 minutes (including drying time!). You can get creative with your nails, too. Here’s how:

1. Gather materials before your nails get wet: newspaper, scissors, rubbing alcohol & cotton ball, light colored base coat, top coat.

2. Select a text-heavy page of the newspaper and cut ten squares slightly larger than your finger nails.

3. Use light colored nail polish and paint your nails, as usual. I choose a peachy-nude for the base coat.

4. When base coat is dry, soak a cotton ball in rubbing alcohol. Rub the saturated cotton over one nail (as you would with nail polish remover) and immediately press one newsprint square against the nail. Quickly remove the newsprint to reveal the transfer. If not removed quickly, the paper will stick to your nail. Repeat on all nails.

5. Paint a clear topcoat on nails to keep newsprint from washing off.
